Muskoka Occupational Therapy
As a passionate and registered occupational therapist with the College of Occupational Therapist of Ontario, I understand that the best way to achieve your goals is to take a proactive approach to maintain an independence lifestyle. Occupational Therapists (OT) focus on how their clients can meet functional goals in self care, productivity and leisure. Through collaborating to create adaptive strategies and techniques I can enable your independence! Muskoka Occupational Therapy is a mobile service. Meeting clients where they are and aiding them to strive towards the future.
How I Began and Where I’m Headed
Muskoka Occupational Therapy was born out of a need to meet the evolving needs of our changing community. My name is Caryn Farnsworth. I am a registered occupational therapist with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario since 2019. I am a "Muskokan" born and raised in Huntsville ON. I completed my honours undergraduate degree at the University of Ottawa in Human Kinetics Cum Laude with a minor in Health Science. From there I attended McMaster University completing my Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy.
To meet the needs of my clients I have completed continuing education in seating and mobility as well as specific courses related to cognition, pressure management and care planning. Continuing to build my professional portfolio is an ongoing passion. I understand the specific needs and supports of individuals in the Muskoka area. Let me help you meet your goals!
I will visit you in your home or cottage!
I service all communities in Almaguin, Muskoka and Parry Sound Districts.
At this time only adult services are available.
SEATING AND MOBILITY ASSESSMENTS
The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care administers the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) which can cover 75% of mobility devices. I am an ADP Authorizer and can work together with your preferred equipment vendor. By providing the prescription and set up of adult walkers and manual and power wheelchairs! I will ensure that your equipment meets your specific needs.
HOME SAFETY ASSESSMENTS
Taking a proactive approach to aging can lead to better health outcomes. Working with an OT can allow clients to maintain safety and independence in their home. Assessments include prescription of assistive devices, bathroom and bedroom safety equipment, pressure management strategies and transfer aids.
ADAPTIVE LIVING SKILLS
Not everyone has the same needs. In fact, it’s hard to find two people who benefit from the exact same approach! Have a unique challenge or problem you need to overcome? Let’s get to know one another and together we’ll set out to meet your goals. Goals can include anything from getting into your boat to completing personal care. I can help you.
Wanting to complete a renovation to make your home or business more accessible for yourself or your clientele? OTs are experts in accessibility! I can help your loved one stay in their home or continue to enjoy their cottage. I can also ensure your business meets Ontario standards for accessibility.
